Summary: "Maybe....maybe not!"

I am using this book as my guide book to my upcoming trip to Colorado this summer. Having traveled alot and read many guide books along the way, I would like to leave this impression of this book prior to my travels. I think the reviewer, Janet Daniels hit it pretty close when she mentioned that this is not a well written book full of information. It seem to be a nicely written book full of opinions. The book appears to be the reflection of the author's taste rather then detail information you may want. The book read like a personal travelogue of Fielder's choices. Interestingly, the Colorado plains appears to be grossly neglected by this book.

You cannot be help but to be charm by the fantastic photos that the author inserted into this book. A friend who is joining me on this trip to Colorado was hooked and cleaned by the author due to the great photography. But if these photos represent the best, that would usually means that a casual traveler like me probably will not see these astounding sights and colors. While you will not get much of a history tour out of this book, this book appears to be geared toward the scenic wonders of Colorado.

Still, I used this book because the author did point out many of the major scenic highlights of Colorado and I am going to be just a casual traveler with less then two weeks in that state. I need to hit the highlights!! Fortunately, I have been to Colorado before so I am not entering into a virgin territory. Also in this book, the author dropped tips and hints on how to take a good photo and explained what he looks for when taking shot. In some weird way, this travel guide book is also a book on how to take scenic photographs Fielder's style. I would give this book, 3.5 stars if I could. And of all the reviews I read previously, I thought Janet Daniels' review brought me back to reality from all these angelic photos.

I gave these books as gifts because I loved the one my husband bought for me. John Fielder takss the mose beautiful Colorado pictures and provides great descriptions of activities in each of the featured cities. This is my favorite Colorado Travel book.

The book is excellent for the important things to see in Colorado. However it needs to be updated in terms of lodging and restaurants.
